Chris Ewing Completes Golf Management Program
...
Kelly Greens Head Golf Professional Chris Ewing has completed the PGA Professional Golf Management Program.Following his final review by PGA staff members, Chris received his PGA membership certificate.
Chris entered the golf management program in 2000 and six years later, Aug. 22, completed the third and final level of instruction on schedule. The curriculum included four major course areas: golf instruction, supervision and delegation, business operations, plus food and beverage operations.
During the six-year program, Chris was required to attend several progress evaluations at International Headquarters PGA Village, West Palm Beach. Also included in the requirements was a 36-hole golf qualifier. The cutoff score for the two rounds was 155.Our head pro met this challenge successfully.
When asked about the program, Ewing reflected, "I appreciated its comprehensiveness. It provided an exposure to other aspects of country club operations in addition to golf."
Chris came to Kelly Greens in October 1996 as second assistant pro and was promoted to first assistant in March 1997.
...
Following the resignation of longtime director of golf Gary Keating in March of this year, Ewing was appointed as Kelly Greens' head golf professional.
...
Reflecting on the arduous six years it took to complete the program, Chris volunteered, "I was so grateful it was over. The drive from West Palm Beach back to Fort Myers just flew by in record time."
Kelly Greens members congratulate Chris on his achievement and wish him well as he continues with his career as our club's head golf professional.
