Arthur D. Evans
Arthur D. Evans, 83, of Springdale died Monday, May 26, 2003, at his home.
He was born March 12, 1920, in Little Rock, the son of Ernest and Reba Perry Evans.
After returning from the service, Art obtained a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.He later worked for Texas Instruments for 15 years.While there, he was their lead engineer on the team that developed Texas Instruments' first transistor radio.Art's early work also included the development of equipment for the mass production of silicon and he has seven patents in his name at Texas Instruments.He and seven other engineers founded an electronics company called Siliconix in California.Art was the vice president of engineering for Siliconix for 15 years.His hobbies included woodworking and fishing.Art loved to float the streams and creeks across the Ozarks with his family.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Springdale.
