    Osceola High – Alisha Evans

OHS senior Alisha Evans said her last year of high school has been unforgettable.

As Osceola's student body president and school mascot Kowboy Jake, Alisha said the past year has been memorable but busy.

Alisha, 18, has remained active in school activities and has earned high academic honors, all while raising her daughter who will turn 3 next week.

Alisha gave birth to Destiny Faith at age 15.

Alisha said she is interested in a career in politics because she wants to make a positive difference in the world.

"I've always wanted to be in politics because I can make a major difference that way," she said.

Alisha transferred from Poinciana High School after she had Destiny and said Osceola has been very supportive of her.

She brings Destiny to most all of her meetings and events.

"When I don't bring her, that's when I get in trouble," said Alisha, "Everybody loves her."

Alisha is involved in the National Honor Society and Keyettes. She is senior class secretary and student school board representative for Osceola High.

She was also named a Horatio Alger scholarship winner. The $1,000 scholarship is given to those students who overcome obstacles on their way to academic success.

Alisha said her daughter has kept her on track and focused throughout her high school career.

"I always keep in mind that if I mess up, I mess up (my daughter's) future too," she said.

After high school, Alisha will attend the University of Central Florida and will likely pursue a degree in journalism.

Alisha can't stand to waste time. Although it will be another month before she moves with Destiny to Orlando for school, she said she has already started to pack up.

At Osceola's senior breakfast Alisha was voted the class "overachiever" by her classmates.

"I won't settle for less than I know I can get," she said.

Alisha said she is unique because nothing has stopped her from achieving her goals.

"I never give up on anything," she said.

Osceola's graduation will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. at Arabian Nights.
