Member - Mrs. Marlene Evangelista, M.A.;R.S.A.C
Marlene is currently serving on her fourth year as Director of the Board of the Mission to Seafarers in Vancouver.She has over 20 years of combined experience in the field of Social Services, Substance Abuse Counselling, Relief and Community Development, Public Relations, Training and Development, Inter-cultural Church-Based Community Outreach Ministries.She served 11 years as a Multicultural Community Volunteer Worker in many areas as a way of gving back to her country of choice, Canada.She is the Founder of the Filipino Canadian Support Services (FCSS) a registered non-profit society serving the multicultural community.For 8 years she served as Director of FCSS.This was the first formal group in Canada reaching out to Filipino immigrants and transients, seafarers and contract workers regardless of race, who are in crisis needing assistance and advocacy in a foreign land like Canada. For the past 11 years she has assisted many Filipino transient seafarers who had been in deep crisis, using a more culturally-sensitive approach, and in close coordination with the Philippine Consulate of Vancouver.Marlene is married to David Evangelista, and God has gifted them with 2 daughters, aged 23 and 16, and 2 sons, aged 22 and 20.
