Melanie Eustice is resigning from the board of the Western Placer Unified School District to return to San Bernardino County.
Eustice, who was elected to the Area 3 seat in November 2004, made her announcement during Tuesday night's school board meeting in Lincoln.
> "My family and I have made the difficult decision to return to Southern California so that we can be closer" to relatives, said Eustice, a mother of two.
"I regret that I must discontinue my service on the board," effective July 1, Eustice added."I will miss serving and being part of this wonderful district and community."
Eustice, an administrative aide to Placer County Supervisor Ted Gaines, said she's accepted a job as a management analyst with the city of Hesperia, where she and her husband lived before moving to Northern California in 2000.
Fellow board members thanked Eustice for her service.
"Melanie's been a very conscientious board member who's contributed a lot," board President Dennis Sonnenburg said the day after her announcement.
