    James S. Eustice is of counsel to the Cooley Godward Kronish Tax department.He serves as advisor to Firm clients on corporate federal and international tax matters.Resident in the New York office, Mr. Eustice joined Kronish Lieb Weiner & Hellman LLP in 1970, which was merged into Cooley Godward Kronish LLP in 2006.

    Professor Eustice is the founding partner of Kronish Lieb's Tax Group and is the Gerald L. Wallace Professor of Taxation at New York University School of Law.He is a nationally recognized authority on taxation law, through his co-authorship of several important tax treatises, including the Federal Income Taxation of Corporations and Shareholders (with Bittker), and the Federal Income Taxation of S Corporations (with Kuntz).His most recent publications are "Debt-Like" Equity & "Equity-Like" Debt: The Treasury's Anti-Hybrid Proposals, 71 Tax Notes 1657 (1996); Corporate Tax Shelters: Old Brine in New Bottles, the Tax Law Review (2002).He has also published books on the Tax Reform Act of 1984, and The Tax Reform Act of 1986 (with Kuntz, Lewis & Deering).

    Professor Eustice was graduated, with honors, from the New York University School of Law in 1958, where he earned a L.L.M. degree.He attended the University of Illinois where he received both a L.L.B., cum laude, in 1956 and a B.S., cum laude, in 1954.

    He is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Tax Section), The Association of the Bar of The City of New York (Tax Section), The American College of Tax Counsel, The Tax Forum and The Tax Clubs of the Princeton and Harvard Clubs.
