   "The instrument will reduce the need to "handle" the specimen, which ultimately makes our patients and physicians happier because they are able to receive results much faster," said Dr. Sid Eudy, SRHS pathologist and SRHS Laboratory Medical Director. According to Dr. Eudy, the Ventana equipment tests anywhere from 50 to100 tissues samples monthly, which includes samples from both Ocean Springs Hospital and Singing River Hospital. "This new technology also has the capability to do a variety of new molecular diagnostic testing which we have previously had to send out to a reference lab," added Dr. Eudy.

   Dr. Sidney F. Eudy, a pathologist at Singing River Hospital, has been named chief of staff for the 2004-2005 fiscal year, his second year to serve in the position. He received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and is board certified in pathology. He has been with the hospital since 1997.

   Dr. Eudy is a native of Stephensville, Texas. His undergraduate degree is from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and his medical degree is from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Eudy, a pathologist, is board certified with the American Board of Pathology. He has been a member of the Singing River Hospital medical staff since 1997.
   
   "I am very honored to have been chosen by my peers to be chief of staff," said Eudy. "For both the medical staff and the patients of Jackson County, I think this is a very challenging time in medicine, because of the new technology in medical care as well as diverse settings.
   
   "My objective as chief of staff is to be an effective liaison between the medical staff and the administration and represent the hospital to the community," he added.
