Mr. Jim Eubanks

Not according to Jim Eubanks and his 52 Owner Operators.Mr. Eubanks is owner of Anlines, Inc, which is an exclusive agent of U.S. Xpress.Eubanks and the contractors have created a successful niche within U.S. Xpress.They work on a commission basis for the business they book, and they move the loads on U.S. Xpress trailers.Anlines is a dedicated fleet and all Owner Operators are under permanent lease to U.S. Xpress.

Jim Eubanks has been active in the trucking industry for 31 years, and an agent for U.S. Xpress for 14 months.He reports that customer demands are growing and that the customers keep demanding more and more equipment.It pleases him to forecast that he doesn't see this trend slowing down any time soon.

"We are safe and productive," says Eubanks."Our rates are very high.I can be very selective when looking for new contractors."By rates, Mr. Eubanks is referring to the shipping rates he commands from the customers.This is important to contractors because Anlines pays on a percentage basis rather than by the mile.

"I know Owner Operators are small businessmen.They know how much they need to take home each week to take care of their families," Eubanks explains.

Mr. Eubanks is quite old fashioned."I want to talk to the contractors every day.I insist they all have cell phones because I want to speak with them personally.Of course they have satellites, but I think the personal touch makes a difference.Large companies can't really do this, but we can."

Several of the 52 Owner Operators at Anlines have been working with Mr. Eubanks for 20 years or more.He is proud of the fact that, "They work very hard and it shows.I've always hired from referral.It's worked well but it's not quick enough.It's either freight chasing trucks or trucks chasing freight.Right now it's freight chasing trucks."

As busy as these Owner Operators are, Eubanks explains, "Getting home is never an issue.
