   Past manager of transportation Eubanks dies.
   
   James H. Eubanks of Amarillo , longtime transportation manager at the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce , died Thursday , Aug. 23 , 2001 , in Oklahoma City. He was 77.

   Mr. Eubanks was born and raised in Slaton. He had been a resident of Amarillo since 1956. He married Polly Stafford on Sept. 14 , 1946. He worked as a rate clerk for the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad in Lubbock and Fort Worth after being discharged from the Army during World War II.
   
   He took specialized training in traffic management and transportation law. In 1953 he was admitted to practice before the Interstate Commerce Commission and the Texas Railroad Commission.
   
   He left the Fort Worth and Denver in 1953 to become assistant traffic manager for the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. In 1955 he joined the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce as transportation manager where he coordinated committees on world trade , aviation , highway and freight traffic.
   
   He was the transportation manager for the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce for more than 25 years. He taught traffic management at West Texas State College and received a letter of commendation by the chamber's aviation committee.
   
   He retired from the chamber in 1988. He moved to Edmond , Okla. , in 1999 to be closer to his daughter. He was a member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church.
   
   He was preceded in death by his wife , Polly , in 1999.
