The prescription drug benefit "is so confusing to a lot of them," said Jodi Ettare, president of the Lynchburg Pharmacists Association and a pharmacist with CVS.The benefit works like an insurance plan's coverage - after a deductible, there's a co-pay only for many prescription drugs - but they have to choose the right plan that fits their prescription needs.

Ettare talks to many older customers in her job.
"A lot think these plans are free," Ettare said."Also, over half the seniors I've talked to don't think they're eligible, because they got the information from the Social Security office a couple of months ago for the low-income" people.
When those seniors saw that Medicare D information, she said, "They're like, 'that doesn't apply to me (because) I'm not eligible.' That's been the biggest confusion I've seen."
