"Well, we finally, in the fourth quarter, decided we could make some baskets," Fairhope Coach Doug Etheridge said."We had open looks all night and couldn't make any. Finally we made a little run with three in a row, and all of a sudden the intensity turned up and we got a couple of turnovers.

"It wasn't pretty most of the night, but it was a win and we're not going to give it back."

In a game of missed opportunities for both teams, the Lady Admirals hit 17-of-34 free throw attempts on the night.
    ...
"We had open shots all night long and they wouldn't go in," Etheridge said."When we made one our confidence finally picked up.

"(Assistant coach) Steve (Sims) and I were over here scratching our heads what to do.They were playing a zone and we can't shoot."

    ...
Etheridge believes the victory is something his team can build on.

"We can come back and force teams to turn the ball over and make some clutch shots when we need to," Etheridge said."Defensively, we got a steal there in the middle of the court that led to getting the free throw that put us up one.Hopefully something good comes out of it."

"We had opportunities," Fairhope coach Doug Etheridge said."We had pretty good looks at the basket at different times, but couldn't get anything to go in.We made a little run in the fourth quarter to cut it to eight, then we turned it over three straight times."

The Lady Pirates were only 13-of-27 from the free-throw line.

"We missed 14 free throws," Etheridge said."You combine those three things and you lose the ball game. We've got to find a way to get better offensively."

"We didn't do a good job on transition defense," Fairhope coach Doug Etheridge said."They got too many easy baskets there.Instead of getting back, we were standing looking at the ball, and that I can't un derstand.Evidently that is a poor job on my part."

The Lady Bobcats improved to 3-1 with their third consecutive victory.

    ...
"We put them at the line and let them shoot too many free throws," Etheridge said."I thought in the half-court set, defensively, we played decently well. The half-court offense, at times, was OK.It wasn't good, but was OK at times when we did what we were supposed to."

Theodore took a 10-2 advantage midway through the first quarter before Fairhope cut the lead to 10-8 at the 2:16 mark.

    ...
"We'll go back, work on it and get better and see where we go from there," Etheridge said.
