   Harry Ethans to lead CanWest media integration
   
   CanWest recently announced the appointment of Harry Ethans as Senior Vice-President, Media Integration. Ethans, who managed the initial transition process of integrating the Southam assets into CanWest, will steer CanWest's overall integration strategy and lead a senior management team focused on leveraging the Company's combined Canadian media assets.
   
   In addition, Ethans will lead the development of a Shared Services Unit in Winnipeg, consisting of CanWest's Information Technology, Business Services (accounting and administration) and Customer Contact Centre Operations.
   
   Ethans launched his career at CanWest Capital Corp., the forerunner of today's CanWest Global Communications Corp. He has spearheaded the company's corporate development division and, over the past year, managed the initial transition process of integrating the Southam assets into CanWest.

   Harry Ethans, Senior Vice-President, Media Integration has announced the appointment of Dalbir Bains, as Director, Media Integration. In this newly created position, Bains shares responsibility for the overall management of the Company's Shared Services development in Winnipeg. He will also assist in the execution and monitoring of the cross-media business plans, specifically Content, Cross Promotion and Sales; co-ordinate the dissemination of communications to key stakeholders; and review other potential administrative functions and services for inclusion into the Winnipeg shared services unit.

   Prior to rejoining CanWest, Harry was Vice President, Business Development and Managing Partner at Ensis Corporation, a diversified manufacturing company operating five Divisions and 12 plants in Canada, US and Europe. Prior to 1991, he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions at Federal Industries LTD., a Winnipeg-based publicly traded conglomerate with $2.2 billion in revenues. Ensis was created as a result of a management-led buyout of the Industrial division of Federal Industries.
   
   He also has earlier experience with CanWest Capital Corporation, the forerunner to today's CanWest Global Communications. Harry is an MBA graduate from the University of Western Ontario and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honors from the University of Manitoba.
