1. KTDA tips tea farmers on fuel use

The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Marketing General Manager, Mr Julius Ethangatha, said with the use of wood fuel, factories would save a lot in terms of operational costs and foreign exchange on imported oil.
Ethangatha urged farmers to interplant their tea and other cash crops with other fast growing trees like Eucalyptus Grandis so as to boost their returns from tea farming.
The integration of cash crops with such trees, Ethangatha said, would enable factories to sustain use of wood fuel because farmers will sell them on maturity to local factories and further increase their earnings.
