   CWLA's body of publications dedicated to LGBTQ youth has recently expanded to include CWLA Best Practice Guidelines: Serving LGBT Youth in Out-of-Home Care, as well as a special issue of its journal, Child Welfare, entirely dedicated to LGBTQ youth in child welfare, featuring more than a dozen never-before published studies and articles, including articles by Lambda Legal Staff Attorney, Rudy Estrada.

   Rudy Estrada is a Staff Attorney based in the New York headquarters of Lambda Legal, the largest and oldest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV.
   
   Since joining Lambda Legal in 2002, Estrada has worked full-time on Lambda Legal's Foster Care Project, responding to the unmet needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning adolescents in foster care. He plays a key role in a historic partnership between Lambda Legal and the Child Welfare League of America that will make LGBT youth a clear priority for state and local child welfare agencies around the country.
   
   Entitled "Fostering Transitions: CWLA/Lambda Legal Joint Initiative to Support LGBTQ Youth and Adults Involved with the Child Welfare System," this national project will engage the range of people involved in the child welfare system, from LGBTQ young people themselves, to child welfare experts, foster and adoptive parents, faith-based providers, caseworkers and administrators. CWLA and Lambda Legal will draw on real life experiences and insights through a National Advisory Network and through Regional Listening Forums that will be held around the country.
   
   Prior to joining Lambda Legal, Estrada was a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem and Attorney for wards of the court in Chicago and Milwaukee. Estrada represented hundreds of young people in abuse, neglect, dependency, termination of parental rights and adoption proceedings.
