Scott Estlund, senior mortgage consultant for First Choice Mortgage, recently earned his Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist designation through the National Association of Mortgage Brokers.
The CRMS designation was created to recognize individual mortgage professionals as leaders within the increasingly competitive field of mortgage origination and finance.
Estlund is one of 11 CRMS designees in Wisconsin and 400 in the United States. He is the first designee who lives north of the Madison and Milwaukee metro areas.
To be eligible, originators must have a minimum of two years of professional experience; complete 30 hours of formal academic education; document other professional designations, mortgage-related educational activities, as well as leadership and participation in the industry; and pass a final examination on industry practices, laws, compliance, underwriting guidelines and insurance applicable to mortgage transactions. Typically the process takes two to three years to complete.
