   Bill Estes was the expert lead engineer for several intense mechanical projects including a widely acclaimed state-of-the-art Cath Lab, CVOR, Skilled Nursing Facility, EMS upgrades and the new Central Plant for Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital which features high pressure steam generators and thermal fluid system, natural gas-fired engine driven chillers, and state-of-the-art distributed control systems.

   As the selected engineer for a "one-of-a-kind" type mechanical system, Bill was lead engineer for a 70,000 square foot "high-tech" flexible research product development and manufacturing facility in Grass Valley, California.
   
   Bill performed project engineering for the ventilation, heating and cooling design for Dole Fresh Vegetables, Soledad, California and Dole Dried Fruit & Nuts in Fresno, California.
   
   He also performed as technical lead for a major refrigeration warehouse addition to the Christian Brothers facility in Reedley.Designed a glycol-based warehouse cooling system for their Healdsburg facility (now Sutter Home).

   Dr. Bill Estes, associate professor of education, has been chosen as the recipient for Lee University's 2008 Excellence in Teaching Award.Estes is one of three faculty members to receive an award for excellence, the other two for scholarship and advising.

   Estes joined the Lee faculty in 1998 as an assistant professor of education.Prior to Lee, Estes held positions in North Carolina and Arkansas school districts, as well as at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
   
   In addition to teaching, Estes resides as the Chair for the Department of Health, Exercise Science and Secondary Education in the Helen DeVos College of Education.He is a member of Cleveland's City Council as well as Phi Delta Kappa.He also serves on the Greenway Advisory Board, the State Task Force for Minority Teacher Recruitment and Retention and the board for Habitat for Humanity.

   Bill Estes, Lee associate professor of education and the director of the race, noted the significance of the annual competition.
   
   "Our relationship with the Chattanooga Track Club and the commitment of the local running community continues to make the 65 Roses 5K one of the best races in Southeast Tennessee," Estes said.
   
   The contest, which began in 2003, has had a consistent increase in participation.
   
   Just last year, the race drew in a total of 375 competitors."We are expecting 400 this year.And this is only the runners.Volunteers, family members, and walkers make that number much higher," Estes said.The 65 Roses 5K has had high involvement from Lee students in the past as well.Students are always needed to help with tasks like registration, setting up, handing out water, and scoring.In addition, many students choose to run in the race themselves."We could not even put this on without Lee students… Each year we have had more and more students run in the race," Estes said.
