Marion K. Erickson
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2002 for Marion K. Erickson, 93, of Long Prairie at the American Lutheran Church, Long Prairie with the Rev. Douglas Larson and the Rev. Louisa Fure officiating.Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Long Prairie.Visitation was Tuesday, April 2, 2002 from 4-7 p.m. at the Stephan-Stein Funeral Home, Long Prairie.

Mrs. Erickson died Friday, March 29, 2002 at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 26, 1908 in Leeds, ND to Harry and Ruth (Gron-vold) Piltingsrud.She grew up in North Dakota and in 1928, graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield.She taught Latin and history in Osakis.She married Dr. Alvin Erickson, June 9, 1936 in Leeds, ND.After her marriage, her husband was a physician in Ivanhoe, Sanborn and, in WWII, served as an Army physician.They settled in Long Prairie in 1946, where she has lived ever since.She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, the church organist for 44 years, directed the junior choir for many years and was a substitute teacher at Long Prairie High School.She was an accompanist for many junior and senior students in band and choir contests.She was an accomplished seamstress and also tatted, knitted and did other types of needlework.She loved to entertain and was an excellent cook.She enjoyed reading, Bible study and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Erickson, April 10, 1993; an infant son, James Allen; and two sisters, Lillian Parker and Thelma "Sally" Johnson.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Allen) Bergh of Deer Lake, WI and Mary (Kenneth) Megel of Omaha, NE; two brothers, Harold R. Piltingsrud MD of Park River, ND and Clarence W. Piltingsrud of Canon City, CO; two sisters, Helen Temple of Long Prairie and Alice Bullard of Santa Cruz, CA; and two grandchildren, Erik Bergh of Minneapolis and Jon Bergh of Brooklyn, NY.
