    Chad Erickson of rural Edgar represents Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation District 8, which includes Marathon, Clark, Lincoln, Portage, Price, Taylor and Wood counties.He asked Bernick, his college friend, to consider starting a group in Clark County.

    The WFBF's Young Farmer Program is open to any bureau member between 18 and 35 years old.The program has been beneficial to Erickson, who works as an agronomist for Marathon Feed. "The biggest advantage is the legislative power Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation has," he said.

    It's more crucial now to persuade people to become interested in farming, as farms continue to dwindle, Erickson said.

    "Young farmers are the future of agriculture, and we need the young people of today to get involved," he said.
