Harry C. Engstrom, a member of Foley & Lardner's Madison office, has been in practice for over 20 years, counseling and litigating for business clients in copyright, unfair competition and trademark law, trade secret protection, patents, and the licensing and transfer of technology.

Mr. Engstrom is particularly qualified with respect to electronic technologies.He earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in electrical engineering, studying electronics, computers, physics, and advanced mathematics, from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he was a National Science Foundation Fellow.He also earned his law degree, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Admitted to practice in Wisconsin and before the U.S. District Court (Western District of Wisconsin), the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent Office, Mr. Engstrom is a past chairman of the Wisconsin Bar Association Patent, Trademark and Copyright Section.He also is a member of the Dane County and American Bar Associations, and the American and Wisconsin Intellectual Property Law Associations.

Mr. Engstrom is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin (B.S., electrical engineering, with honors, 1967; M.S. electrical engineering, 1969; J.D., cumlaude, 1974). His patent practice was concentrated in electronics, physics and mechanical technologies.

He has been a frequent lecturer on patent law for the University of Wisconsin Extension and other organizations and is listed in the Intellectual Property Law section of Best Lawyers in America®.
