  Stephen P. England, M.D., a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, has been selected as a White House Fellow.England, along with 17 other White House Fellows chosen from around the nation, will spend a year serving at the highest levels of the federal government.A St. Paul native, England has lectured internationally on pediatric and adolescent health topics, and serves on numerous state commissions addressing the health issues of children with disabilities.He is an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Minnesota and recently took part in a medical mission in Ecuador, operating on children with cerebral palsy.England founded the Children's Health Enrichment Program in St. Paul, which teaches African American teenagers about health topics and provides academic mentoring.
