According to Jodi Elowitz, director of education, the JCRC's speakers bureau has sent both survivors and their children into classrooms for more than 30 years. The concern, she said, was "how were we going to continue to tell their stories in the future?"Using the Shoah Foundation's tapes, Elowitz is preparing a curriculum-lesson plans and activities to make the tapes the most effective tool for teaching tolerance. She anticipates its completion by fall 2004. "It's fabulous to have all this history a couple of steps outside my door," Elowitz said."The community knows that we won't stop [our education efforts] when the survivors pass away."For more information, contact Elowitz at (612) 338-7816.
