Scott Eitelgeorge, who spent four seasons as the associate head coach at Diablo Valley Junior College in Pleasant Hill, Calif., will enter his first season as an assistant coach at Sacramento State.
Eitelgeorge had two separate stints on the coaching staff at Diablo Valley College (1997-01, 2006-07), and was the Vikings' associate head coach last season and from 1998-01.Last year, he helped coach DVC to a 27-6 overall record, a Big 7 Conference championship and a top five ranking in the state of California.The program also had four players named to the all-conference team, including the league MVP.
During Eitelgeorge's five seasons at DVC, the team combined for a 127-49 record, had five years with at least 21 victories, two conference championships (1999, 2007) and five Northern California Playoff appearances (1998-01, 2007).That included a pair of Final Eight appearances at the state tournament in 1999 and 2001.
Eitelgeorge was also the head coach at Porterville Junior College (Porterville, Calif.) from 2001-05.He coached the Pirates to a Northern California playoff appearance in 2003.He was also the head varsity coach at El Molino High School in Forestville, Calif., from 1993-97 where he led the team to a sectional runner-up finish, two playoff appearances and the first boy's basketball league championship in school history.
A native of Stockton, Calif., Eitelgeorge received his bachelor's degree in history (minor in government) from Saint Mary's in 1991, and later added a master's degree in health, physical education and recreation from his alma mater in 2001.He was a four-year starter for the Gaels' soccer team (1987-90) and an all-conference selection as a senior.
