Mark leads the firm's audit practice and has over 23 years of professional experience servicing a variety of primarily closely-held clients in the areas of ERISA, wineries, restaurants, retail, manufacturing, distribution, and financial services.Mark has a thorough knowledge of ERISA, significant experience with retirement and other employee benefit plans, as well as international auditing and reporting experience.He has also taught national accounting courses related to a variety of subjects, represented numerous employee benefit plan clients before the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor and served as guest speaker for various professional organizations.

Prior to joining Comyns, Smith, McCleary & Deaver, LLP in 1996, Mark was a senior audit manager with KPMG Peat Marwick LLP and a senior employee benefits consultant with a local consulting firm specializing in employee benefits.In his capacity as an employee benefits consultant, Mark designed and administered hundreds of qualified retirement plans and managed the firm's trust accounting department.As audit manager with KPMG, Mark spent two years in Düsseldorf, Germany, where he spent the majority of his time auditing domestic and international clients.

Mark is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, and American Society of Pension Actuaries.He received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration from St. Mary's College of California and is active with various youth sports organizations.
