   Mepham High School senior Richard Eisman recently won first place in shotput and discus at the Derrick Adkins Holiday Classic held at the Mitchel Athletic Complex. On his first try the shotput flew 48 ft, 10 1/4 in., and a 136 ft. 3 in. in discus put him ahead of the competition. Richard holds the Nassau County indoor shotput title. A few days later at a Dual Track Meet, Richard set a personal record of 51 ft. 1 in. in shotput and 145 ft. 2 in. in discus.

   RICHARD EISMAN
   
   Richard has been an active student for all four years at Mepham High School. He is extremely proud of his accomplishments in track. He is a four-year varsity member of indoor and outdoor track, as a shot putter and discus thrower, and he is captain of the track and field team this year. Ranked the number one sophomore shot putter in New York State, Richard won the coaches' award two years ago and the NIVP award in his junior year. In addition to his membership in the National Honor Society, Richard was listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students. For the past two years, he has been a member of the Chamber Singers and has enjoyed the trip to the choir competition in Boston. He also plays the piano and the guitar.
   
   Outside of school, Richard has worked as a personal counselor for an autistic child during a summer camp program. Next year, in college, Richard hopes to major in chemistry or computer science.

   At the Division IIA Track Championships and also at the Section 8 Freshman/sophomore Championships, Richard Eisman, a tenth grade student at Mepham High School, received 1st Place in Shot Put and 1st Place in Discus. He threw for 50'5", which is quite a feat, and he is the only sophomore in Nassau County who is able to do so.
