Chairman Alan Novak Calls on Jim Eisenhower to Live Up to "Full Disclosure" Promise and to Release Information on Contributors
HARRISBURG - State Republican Chairman Alan Novak today called on Jim Eisenhower to live up to his campaign's promise for "full disclosure" when it comes to campaign finance reform.
...
"For quite some time, Jim Eisenhower hasn't fully disclosed his record of being an inexperienced prosecutor who has spent more time defending criminals than prosecuting them, but his lack of disclosure on campaign finance reports is a new low," Chairman Novak said.
...
"It is time for Jim Eisenhower to keep his promise and disclose who his contributors are and where his money comes from."
Eisenhower's campaign was recently found to have misled the people of Pennsylvania about how much money he raised, apparently taking liberty with the reporting laws to the extent that the Department of State is considering forcing him to file an accurate report. (Morning Call, September 25, 2004)
During this controversy, Eisenhower's campaign manager said that they misled the people in order to offer "full disclosure."
After reviewing the Eisenhower finance reports, it looks like full disclosure isn't all that important.
Eisenhower doesn't disclose where his money is coming from.In an unprecedented lack of disclosure, Eisenhower's campaign finance reports don't even list the occupation of more than 3/4th of his donors. As a matter of fact, 81% of the required donors do not list the occupation of the donor. That means no one can tell where Eisenhower's money is coming from. (Eisenhower finance report)
Eisenhower accepted thousands of dollars in "unidentified" money.Eisenhower took contributions that his campaign described as "unidentified" totaling close to $10,000. (Eisenhower finance report)
Eisenhower hasn't even bothered to file a candidate report.Jim Eisenhower has refused to file a candidate report, even though he has had personal activity that would require disclosure. (Eisenhower finance report)
"Jim Eisenhower's lack of disclosure is troubling," Chairman Novak said.
...
"How can we expect Jim Eisenhower to enforce the laws as Attorney General if he can't follow them himself ," Novak concluded.
