"The adoption of this protocol will give all residents of Simcoe and Muskoka access to leading-edge stroke care, and has the potential to dramatically improve the outcomes of some patients affected by this devastating disease," said Jeff Eisen, Clinical Director of Emergency Services at RVH.

Unfortunately, every year Royal Victoria Hospital's emergency team must care for patients seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents or boating mishaps," says Dr. Jeff Eisen, RVH's clinical director of emergency services.

"Our team relies on Canadian Blood Services to ensure it is able to respond to those types of serious accidents.So I would urge everyone to make an appointment to donate blood before you head out to enjoy the Canada Day long weekend.You never know whose life it may save."

Canadian Blood Services, Regional Director, Renee Naiman, echoes Dr. Eisen's call.

It's no surprise the ER's Clinical Director Dr. Jeff Eisen is becoming increasingly concerned.

"Patients are not meant to wait for long periods of time in the ER.It's noisy, bright, and busy, the mattresses are thin, there are no windows and that can be confusing for elderly patients, and it just doesn't have the kind of support these patients need," he says.
