   Doctors without medicine, children scared to play outside and an entire culture struggling to survive are just some of the scenes in Iraq that journalist Vincent Eirene witnessed firsthand and shared with IUP students on Oct. 13.
   
   The multi-media presentation, sponsored by Indiana Voices for Peace, was Eirene's way of sharing the story of the Iraqi people and their struggles.
   
   Eirene, a radio journalist for Blast Furnace Radio, was part of a delegation that toured Iraq the week of March 14. After having interviewed doctors, professors, artists, writers and the homeless, Eirene described a bombed-out city whose inhabitants "...don't care about the Americans, don't care about the rebels; they just want it to stop."
   
   Having the perspective of someone who has actually seen the disarray of the city, Eirene was received as an excellent authority for discussing the war from an insider's point of view.

   Also a psychologist, Eirene described a problem that the children in Iraq are experiencing, a condition referred to as "the playground syndrome" in which Iraqi children refuse to play with toys together and run screaming for shelter when taken outside.
