The New York Stock Exchange announced yesterday that it had censured Michael John Einersen of Mount Vernon and barred him from the securities industry for 10 weeks for failure to timely pay a $16,000 arbitration award to his clients. Einersen, 54, is a former member of the exchange and had been a floor broker with Axis Global. He had been ordered to pay the award in 1997 by the exchange's arbitration panel. He filed suit in the New York State Supreme Court to overturn the panel's decision the following year, but the court denied his request. In a letter dated February 2004, Einersen responded through his attorney to say he believed the customers had abandoned their claim because he had not heard from them for more than five years. NYSE said that was not the case but Einersen did not pay the award until April 22, 2005. Einersen consented to the NYSE hearing panel finding without admitting or denying guilt. He could not be reached for comment yesterday. -
