   Carla was born and raised in Selma, Alabama. She was the only child of V.C."Skeet" and Claudine Gay Eiland. Carla graduated from Selma High School in 1974. She joined the U.S. Air Force as a Dental Technician. She trained and became a licensed Dental Hygenist. After active duty she graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi Nursing School. She practiced as a Registered Nurse in Mississippi, Louisiana, Illinois, and Indiana. She continued in the Air Force Reserve for 20 years and retired as a Captain. She attended Purdue University and earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Cardiovascular Nursing. She currently is on the faculty of the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Wallace Community College Selma. She consults with the funeral home on health issues such as infectious and contagious diseases.
