We have asked our Presidential Candidate Jesse to respond to Ms. Ehret's allegations.

Attached is a copy of "Letter Of Support [for] Rae Roeder and Officers of CWA Local 1033" authored by Fran Ehret, President of NJTU Local 194. This skewed letter of support does irreparable damage to the cause of opposition members efforts to provide members with information to make an informed decision about the leadership of this Local.

Ms. Ehret obviously has no inkling about the internal strife within this Local, nor the political impact of her statements which are outlandish and patently false: Ms. Ehret omitted the fact that the four (4) elected union members (Mark Kandrac, Jonathan Berg-Vice Chair, Major Marshall Brown and James Clemente) of the Division of Investment State Investment Council are "the watchdogs of our pension money.
    ...
Consequently Ms. Ehret's usage of the term Workforce Reduction Board, without an explanation was for impact purposes to give the impression Roeder rode in and saved the day. Of course the Treasurer can now create the same panel where decisions will be made behind closed doors and be harder to challenge his decisions.

"It's about time that we've had a Democrat in the state who's going to look out for working people's values, working people's issues," said Fran Ehret, who is the president of Local 194 of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers."I believe the next four years, it's going to be easier to get meetings, easier to sit down and discuss our issues."

But even union leaders acknowledged that being in power would mean that the Democratic governor must learn to say no.

"Hopefully, we won't have to use them," said Fran Ehret, president of Local 194, the turnpike union that represents 900 toll collectors, maintenance workers, and office employees. But she offered no guarantees.

A job action could mean major migraines for the throngs of drivers heading to the Jersey shore next week and over the busy July Fourth holiday weekend. The union's four-year contract expires at midnight June 30.

Ehret said she was "disappointed" and "annoyed" following a meeting Wednesday in Trenton to hammer out a new pact with members of the McGreevey administration.

"We've hit a brick wall," Ehret said.
    ...
Ehret said the administration wants to give the union the same package given to state workers. The union argues that its members should be treated separately because the turnpike is an independent authority with its own operating budget.

"We know the turnpike has the money and we've been helping the turnpike solve its problems," Ehret said.
    ...
Ehret said the union plans to file an unfair labor practice action against the state today with the Public Employment Relations Commission.Meanwhile, more talks are planned.
