I like Dennis on problem corner, and think as a legislator it would be in the wrong direction for Juneau.
...
Why not appoint Dennis?
He did a good job as mayor and would do the same in the role of interim Senator.
...
Dennis is a nice guy and I really loved his father.
I remember his dad dressing up as Santa on Christmas and walking through town.
Personally, I'd rather have somebody besides Dennis in the position.
However, I think he might be one of the better options at this point.

Egan is a great choice.
...
Dennis is a tireless advocate for Juneau and he has a statewide perspective too.
He can't be bought, knows people, issues, politics, and Juneau.
Awesome choice, I'm glad he agreed to serve.
Of any person out there, Dennis is one Democrat who is truly bipartisan and will work on issues, not for a party line, seems like a good choice for both the Dems and the Administration.
...
Bill was a great guy and an asset for Alaska, Dennis may turn out the same way.
...
Nice guy, but Dennis didn't want the job earlier.
Why should Juneau compomise?
...
I think Dennis would do a good job.
He has been around a long, long time and we know he is a "true" Democrat!!!
...
Just like Mr. Nelson, Mr. Grussendorf, this guy Mr. Egan is a nice candidate who would try equally hard to be a good representative for all of Juneau in the legislature senate.
...
Dennis would be the perfect choice.
...
So is someone trying to say that of the 18 people who have expressed interest early on - 14 directly to the governor and 4 recommended by local Democrats - none are as qualified as Dennis?
...
Dennis Egan would be GREAT for Juneau.
Good choice.
...
Dennis is by far the best choice yet!
...
I was thrilled to learn that Dennis Egan's name has been thrown into the hat for the Democratic Senate seat.
...
Dennis Egan will bring a strong voice to all of S.E. Alaska issues as well as knowledge and dedication to the legislative process.
...
Egan is a much better choice than the first two, so I'm sure Palin won't pick him.
...
As much as I think Dennis is a wonderful choice, we have to remember the Queen Palin marches to her own drummer.
She is a vindictive selfserving person and would do anything to be the dictator of this great state

I will miss Dennis Egan on Problem Corner, but I think he will do a great job as State Senator for Juneau.

Put Egan on the job.
Then in 2010 he could run for Governor.
...
Dennis Egan, who supports Beth Kerttula, would be an effective place-holder.
...
Dennis Egan is not the best choice, let it stay vacant, i would rather see this seat left open than have Dennis sit in till the next election, there is no reason for us to have our representation picked for us.
While there are some that want Dennis because he is a "nice guy" why don't we consider Wade who owns Subway here?
He is a nice guy, interested in politics and has a stake locally to see things improve.
...
However, I must admit that if you are that opposed to Dennis, his support went way up for me.
...
I think Dennis is a poor choice to fill the seat because he has no interest in doing so, period.
...
Since the Gov turned down all the other prospects, let Dennis have a shot, he does know the political game going on Statewide.
...
No offense to Egan.
...
Dennis Egan running for governor.
...
Most Alaskans (even republicans) are getting sick of her ways, and Egan would be a down-to-earth breath of fresh air.
And because of his family heritage he'd be a known entity to some degree.
...
Depending on who runs against Dennis, I think that I would actually have to vote for him.
I think he would make an excellent Governor.
...
Just so you people understand, my statement above does not mean I am against Dennis Egan for the Juneau Senate seat by no means.
...
I think it would be great if Mr. Egan ran for statewide office.
...
Hope that Dennis Egan brings that sense of caring about Alaska to the senate seat.
...
Dennis should stick to radio.
...
I'd say Dennis Egan would be fine IF Sarah Palin would "install" him prior Thursday.
If she won't, then I think we should just keep lobbying for the one we want (not a compromise).
...
Not everyone's going to like Dennis Egan but the majority loves him.
...
I'm a republican and a conservative and I want Dennis Egan for senate.
...
I remember when Egan was mayor of Juneau, he let residents in the valley go without water for five months.
It was a very unusual winter.
Permfrost went well beyond six feet underground.
Main water lines froze.
Egan was too bothered to pay attention to us little folks.
I carried and filled one gallon water contains from work to home.
I finally gave up and drove back and forth to a friend's house for showers.
As mayor, he dropped the ball when twenty families were evicted from their apartments in the dead of winter.
The landlord annexed our apartments into their hotel complex.
I testified in front of the city counsil that Egan was chairing.
I will never forget his ugly arrogance.
He came across like the twenty families were the problem, not the landlord.
I wonder what his father would have said about ignoring families without water or a home in the dead of winter.
Egan as a Senator?
Egan as a Governor?
Maybe in the town of tim-buck-two.
...
I think Dennis would ahve been a great choice.
See http://www.AndrewHalcro.com for good commentary on the unraveling.
...
Dennis would be a good fit and is committed to Juneau and Southeast.
...
I have known Dennis since I was a child - despite the fact that I was definitely NOT in his circle.
He was always kind to me - always treats people with respect.
I think he is an excellent choice.
...
I too enjoy Dennis on Problem Corner, however I do not believe it would be in Juneau's best interests to have him represent us in a Senate seat.
As a regular listener I have a problem with many things that Dennis has said on his program, many I thought were unrepresentative of a person capable of holding a Senate office appointment.
It would be like having Rush Limbaugh running for an office, it would take little effort to dig up off handed comments or a consistency in his demeanor that many find ... unflattering.
Is he a good radio station owner, yes.
He has his moments on air that make me laugh, but then there is a side to him that creeps out occasionally and there is an undeniable sense that the listener picks up on that he has a real nasty side to him that he tries to cover for.
...
Dennis Egan is the same bullying wisea** he was in high school.
He's never grown up.
...
Egan is still the best choice to get us through the interim and next session.
