BRYAN EDWARDS, Director of Bands, Fine Arts Department Chair
Bryan Edwards is in his fourth year as Fine Arts Department Head and Director of Bands at Durham Middle School in Lewisville, Texas.Mr. Edwards is the director of the Honor Winds, beginning brass classes and Jazz Ensemble of the Durham Band.Under his direction the Durham Bands have received consistent First Division Ratings at the University Interscholastic League Concert and Sightreading Contest.The band has also been named outstanding band at the Metrofest Music Festival in 2003.
Prior to establishing the band program at Durham, Mr. Edwards was Director of Bands at The Colony High School, also in Lewisville ISD.Mr. Edwards came to The Colony as as assistant director under the hand of Mr. Dick Clardy.

Mr. Edwards began his teaching career in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas with Marshall Smith at Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1991.During his tenure there he directed consistent First Division concert bands and award winning jazz ensembles.He received a Bachelor of Music Education from Texas Tech University in 1991.While at Texas Tech he studied conducting with James Sudduth and performed in the University Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensembles, Marching Band and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Edwards is a clinician, conductor and adjudicator throughout Texas.He is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association.Mr. Edwards attributes his knowledge and philosophy of Music Education to a host of fine educators including: Jim Sudduth, Dick Clardy, Rey Meza, Wallace Dierolf, Rodney Klett, Jim Cain and Eugene Corporon.
