Scott A. Edelstein is a partner in the Health Law Department in McDermott, Will & Emery's Los Angeles office.He represents both local and national health care systems, multi-institutional systems, e-health commerce companies, third party payors, emerging growth companies, physician groups and long-term care facilities.
Mr. Edelstein's experience in the health care field includes contract and document negotiation; web site audits; compliance review in all aspects of health care law, including HIPAA, licensing, physician recruiting, antitrust, Medicare reimbursement, and Medicare fraud and abuse; assisting hospitals and physician groups in the formation and capital financing of integrated delivery systems; and mergers, acquisitions and other affiliations among tax-exempt and for-profit health care providers and high technology vendors.He also has extensive experience forming and advising telemedicine and e-health commerce companies.
Mr. Edelstein is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the California and District of Columbia bars and is a past Chair of the Programs and Education Committee of the D.C. Bar Health Law Section.In addition to co-authoring "Development Agreement Practice in California and Other States," published in the Stetson Law Review (Vol. 22, No. 2, Spring 1993), Mr. Edelstein has written numerous articles on health information privacy and the legal implications of e-health commerce and is a frequent speaker on these topics.
Mr. Edelstein is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley (A.B.), the University of Southern California (M.P.A.) and the University of San Francisco (J.D.).
