When Charlotte first joined the YWCA in 1936, she do not realize how much it would be a part of her life.As of 1998, Charlotte Earle is the last YWCA lifetime member in Summit County.I first joined the YWCA so I could learn to swim, said Charlotte. It was the hub of the community.Members and staff were like family..
Charlotte learned more than she expected at the YWCA.She built a lifelong social network, found emotional support and discovered abilities and confidence she never thought she had.Charlotte went on to work at The Beacon Journal for 35 years while still finding time to be an active volunteer not only for the YWCA, but also the United Way.She helped start the YWCA's first women's professional group, spearheaded special events, and spoke at the Y's national convention.
there be something for everybody.I can not imagine not being a member, said Charlotte. The YWCA has been an important part of my life because it helped me enjoy the journey. The $ 100 I paid for a lifetime membership was well worth the investment..
