Jenison boys basketball coach Brett Dyke was thrilled for his wife - Julie -  after Keyodee Star's 2:03 victory in the 3-year-old colt trot.

"It was great for my wife to help present the Ray Vander Werf Memorial in honor of her grandfather to Keyodee Star," Dyke said.

That's what we like to see out of him," Jenison coach  Brett Dyke said.

Jenison (7-10) was led by Kyle Hoek's 14 points and 13 points from Tony Nelson, but it was the missed opportunities that bothered coach Brett Dyke.

"We had 26 turnovers," Dyke said.

"We missed a lot of easy shots to start the game and waited too long fighting back," said Jenison coach Brett Dyke, whose team had 13 field goals in 35 attempts.

Jenison coach Brett Dyke said he did not let his players approach the game as the underdog.

"We know they won the Lakeshore and we know our conference (O-K Red Metro) is tough, but we came to win," Dyke said.

"We've struggled for a few wins this year, but that doesn't mean we haven't played hard or been in games," said Jenison coach Brett Dyke.

"We knew we had to cover (Bechard), but a couple of times we switched defenses and didn't find him," Dyke said.

"We definitely picked up our pressure," said Jenison coach Brett Dyke, whose team forced Zeeland into eight second-half turnovers.

"They hit those three 3s right away and we're going, 'Oh no, this isn't what we wanted,'" said Dyke, whose team improved to 10-6.

Coach's first title at Jenison Jenison coach Brett Dyke savored his first title in four years of coaching at the school.The year the Wildcats went to the Class A quarterfinal round (2004), they finished second in the O-K Red." We're ecstatic," Dyke said.

" We won this game with our defense," Jenison coach Brett Dyke said."We take pride in our defense."Dyke said he was concerned when Rockford had a nine-point lead and seemingly was scoring at will." I think we just needed to settle down a bit," Dyke said.
