Andrew Dyke was manager of all Nationwide's branches in the City and central London and later their management information manager, before spending a period in the private banking division of Royal Trust Bank. His experiences of managing people in the personal financial services sector showed him how most people could work better with the help of good IT systems, and yet too many IT professionals were focused less on the success of the business they worked for and more on the intrinsic cleverness of their systems.
