Companies are eligible for grants only after they have made a capital investment, such as purchasing new equipment or upgrading facilities, and money is reimbursed by the state on a 50 percent basis, said Angie Dye, director of public affairs for the Indiana Department of Commerce.

Dye says new equipment and facility upgrades are the main reasons Indiana companies are receiving grants like these.
