Aaron Dye of Mattoon chosen a 2008 Hibbett Sports Superstar
...
MATTOON — National sporting goods retailer Hibbett Sports, Inc. announced that Aaron Dye of Mattoon has been chosen as a 2008 Hibbett Sports Superstar.
Dye was selected because he embodies the determination, hard work and good sportsmanship that earn the title of a Hibbett Sports Superstar, according to a Hibbett press release.
Dye, a part of many successful teams, was a contributing third baseman, pitcher or outfielder for the 2006 coach pitch champions, the 2007 kid pitch champions, the 2007 9-year-old city All Star Team, the sluggers traveling team, a forward and point guard on his basketball teams and a defensive tackle for the fifth-grade undefeated Conference Champions.
He is also a member of a school citizenship and church leadership team.
As a Hibbett Sports Superstar, Dye received $1,000 from Hibbett Sports to donate to the charity of his choice.
He chose the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System Hospice Program.
Lincolnland Hospice of Sarah Bush Lincoln cares for and supports terminally ill patients and their families in their homes.
It's a comprehensive program of care dedicated to controlling pain, relieving discomfort and supporting the terminally ill patient physically, emotionally and spiritually, according to Sarah Bush Lincoln officials.
Hospice care is provided to every patient who is admitted to the program regardless of ability to pay.
Dye celebrated the honor with his family and friends at the Hibbett Sports store located at 112 Dettro Drive in Mattoon on Sept. 27.
The $1,000 donation was presented to the hospice program at that time.
