  By midweek, the Marion County Health Department had received no reports of flu cases, possibly because the weather had been relatively mild, spokeswoman Collette DuValle said.The county Health Department has run out of flu vaccine and doesn't expect any more, she said.
  
  The department is working on ways to let the general public know that common-sense precautions -- washing hands, avoiding sick people -- can help them ride out the flu season even if vaccine is not available, she said.

  School 55 appears to have been struck by a virus that has been striking residents around the city and is becoming a city-wide problem, said Collette Duvalle, spokeswoman for the Marion County Health Department."We're getting isolated cases like this around the city," she said."We're seeing enormous amounts of this kind of thing in emergency rooms and every place.It's almost a community outbreak."The illness could stem from a norovirus like the one that sickened hundreds recently at a Castleton area Olive Garden or the flu or some other run-of-the-mill winter illness, Duvalle said.The Health Department warns that the situation could worsen as families gather for the Christmas holiday over the weekend.Those that are ill should not prepare food or serve it, because germs might be spread to others, Duvalle said.
