Tom is Technology Practice Leader for the West Region Offices of Tatum Partners.Tom has thirty years of business experience, including service as a senior executive in two public companies, as a professional management consultant, and as an entrepreneurial founder/operator of several startup ventures.
Tom's particular skill sets include large-scale IT systems implementation, P&L management and operational problem solving.His range of Industry experiences include Information Technology, Professional Services, Food, Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Goods, Automotive, Instruments and Equipment, Metals, Materials, Chemicals and a variety of other Industrial segments.Tom is particularly adept at resolving difficult business and IT project completion issues, especially at the intersection of IT and business processes.
Most recently, Tom served as Chief Executive Officer of WheeLogic Technologies, Inc., a startup venture dedicated to the development of intelligent vehicle control technologies for the Automotive aftermarket.From 1998 through 2002, Tom served as Chief Operating Officer of Braun Consulting, Inc. (NASDAQ: BRNC) and of the Cayenta, Inc. subsidiary of Titan Corporation (NYSE: TTN).Cayenta was a company that held and operated three software subsidiaries in various fields, including physical asset management, catalogue sales, e-commerce and local government management.Additionally, at Braun Tom held the full P&L responsibility while growing the company from 200 people and $20 million in Revenue to 600+ people and $75 million in Revenue.Tom was also part of the executive team that took Braun public in a successful 1999 IPO.
From 1975 through 1998, Tom pursued his career as a management consultant with Price Waterhouse.He was leader of the firm's U.S. Chemical Industry practice and also served as Managing Partner of the Chicago consulting practice office.His professional focus evolved from an early specialty in activity-based costing and manufacturing process improvements into a broader focus on large-scale profitability and business function improvement projects, including major ERP projects from 1986 onward.
Tom developed and led Price Waterhouse's successful alliance with Marcam, a leading Process Industry ERP system vendor in the mid-1980's and early 1990's.Tom also led several major SAP engagements during the 1990's, including significant multi-year, multi-million dollar projects for companies such as AlliedSignal, Waste Management, Ingersoll-Rand's Thermo-King unit, Unilever's Van den Bergh Foods division, and several others.He also participated as a subject matter expert in numerous other large-scale IT engagements for process-oriented companies in Industries as wide-ranging as Chemicals, Food Processing, Consumer Products, Pharmaceuticals, Metals Production and Meat Packing.
Tom holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance from the State University of New York at Buffalo and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Economics from Indiana Central College.He is a CPA, a Certified Management Consultant, Certified in Data Processing and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.Tom is active in the San Diego Venture Group, the Association for Corporate Growth and the Corporate Directors Forum.
