INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. , Quincy University's Nick Dunning (Trenton, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Dunning helped Quincy to a pair of wins over the weekend as the Hawks took two of three over visiting Saint Joseph's College.

He threw one inning in Quincy's 6-4 win in game one on Saturday and collected the decision.He did not allow a run or hit and struck out one in the appearance.

Dunning returned in the second game to toss a complete game two-hitter as the Hawks picked up another win, 3-1.He again received the decision and threw seven innings, allowed one unearned run and struck out seven.

In Quincy's 5-2 loss to Saint Joseph's on Sunday, Dunning threw three innings and allowed four hits, one earned run and struck out six.

For the week, he was 2-0 with a 0.82 earned run average and struck out 14.This season Dunning has posted an 8-6 record with a 3.08 earned run average.

As another attempted rally ended in frustration in the eighth inning of a 3-1 loss in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday, Quincy University first baseman Nick Dunning slammed his helmet to the ground in disgust, epitomizing the displeasure in the offense through through the first quarter of the season.

"If you find out (why we can't hit), let us know," Dunning said."It's been the story of our season so far."

Indianapolis, Ind. , Quincy University's Nick Dunning (Trenton, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Dunning, a senior righthander for Quincy, became just the sixth pitcher in school history to record a no-hitter as he blanked Kentucky Wesleyan on Apr. 6, 9-0.

He went all nine innings and struck out 12 Panther hitters while surrendering just two walks. He is the first Quincy pitcher to accomplish the feat since Brandon DeJaynes' no-hitter in 2003 against UW-Parkside.

Dunning also delivered at the plate for the Hawks as he hit .545 with a double, two RBIs and seven runs scored in the series sweep.

On the year, Dunning is 5-3 with a 2.43 earned run average and 59 strikeouts in nine appearances. He is also hitting .277 with 19 RBIs.

Dunning, son of Bill and Nancy Dunning of Trenton, pitched a no-hitter in the Hawksí 9-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan College.
