Mr. Dunne is a Partner in the Corporate/Securities, Environmental & Land Use, Life Sciences and Intellectual Property/Information Technology Practice Groups.He has had a diverse legal career, concentrating his practice in the areas of business law, OSHA, and environmental law and employment and human resources law.
For nearly a decade, Mr. Dunne served as outside counsel to several multi-national, life sciences companies.His clients are found within several industry sectors, including agricultural chemicals and biotech, specialty chemicals, glass fabrication, equipment manufacturing, and health care.He provides general corporate advice to these companies in the following areas: transactional matters, including drafting and negotiation of agency agreements, marketing and distribution agreements, sales agreements and product processing agreements.Additionally, he advises and serves clients on a wide variety of intellectual property and information technology issues, including drafting and negotiating internet access and services agreements, website development agreements and application service provider agreements, as well as trademark license agreements.Mr. Dunne also counsels clients on OSHA, employment and human resources, and environmental matters.
Prior to engaging in the private practice of law, Mr. Dunne was Vice President and General Counsel of HGP Industries, Inc., the largest privately-held glass fabricating company in North America.He was responsible for all legal matters and for creating and implementing the human resources function for the company.Mr. Dunne managed a staff of 25 human resources professionals who were responsible for 1,500 employees nationwide, many of whom were represented by a variety of unions.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Dunne was Legal Counsel and Legislative Assistant to a member of the United States House of Representatives, where he advised the Congressman on a wide range of public policy and legislative matters and assisted in the drafting of legislation on environmental, transportation and health matters.Subsequent to his service to a Member of Congress, he served as Counsel to the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce (now called Energy and Commerce) of the U.S. House of Representatives, where he focused on the creation and implementation of environmental policy and on legislative issues relating to the environment.He also was involved in selected energy and health issues on behalf of the Committee.
Mr. Dunne received a B.A. in Political Science from Haverford College in 1970, a J.D. from Georgetown University in 1973, and an M.S. in Physiology and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University in 1981 and 1982, respectively.
Mr. Dunne was admitted to the Bars of Pennsylvania in 1974, District of Columbia in 1981 and the State of New York in 2002.He is a member of the Delaware County, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations, and the District of Columbia Bar Association.
Mr. Dunne has been active in community service for many years.He has been deeply involved in alumni affairs at Haverford College where he served as President of the Alumni Association.He is currently a member of the Board of Managers of the College and a member of the Corporation of Haverford College.Mr. Dunne recently received the Alumni Award, the most distinguished award given by the Haverford Alumni Association, which recognizes his support of the College.Also, he served as Chairman of the Parents' Advisory Council at Kenyon College, whose members are selected by the College to advise the President of Kenyon College on a wide range of issues.
Mr. Dunne served on the Board of Directors of Nichino America, Inc., a Japanese life sciences company.He also serves on the Board of Directors of The Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education Center, an organization supportive of economically disadvantaged children in the greater Philadelphia area.
