   "Investors apply skepticism and sellers apply optimism when looking at the same set of projections for a company's future performance," says John Dunn, vice president of finance and treasurer of GMAC Insurance Holdings, the parent company of GMAC RE. "The two have to negotiate to find common ground."
   
   Dunn, who looks at companies for potential investment, notes that the best companies have real plans to reach their future performance objectives. "Anyone can say they'll grow 15% a year," he says, "but is there a concrete plan of action required to achieve it?"
