"These dollars are good news for those who live near Lake Tapps, those who benefit from the power, those who enjoy the lake for recreation and those who are concerned about preserving the habitat of the lake," Dunn said in a statement from her Washington, D.C., office.
Specifically, the House committee approved $1.5 million for projects that allow fish to pass through the dam and a similar amount for projects that maintain the dam's safety and for general operations.
Another $7.776 million was approved for a fish passage facility at the Howard Hanson Dam, which will allow the Army Corps of Engineers to increase water capacity there.
