   In an effort to increase public awareness on mental illness, Bill Dunn and Andrew Weyandt gave testimony during public comment on how Home Nursing Agency and NAMI have provided them with the resources needed to succeed and to make a fresh start after coping with behavioral health issues.

   While addressing the council, Dunn referred to specific programs and services at the Home Nursing Agency, where he is now employed full-time as a nutrition coordinator for the agency's community support programs. Dunn also mentioned the two recent opportunities where he discussed with federal legislators the challenges of overcoming mental health issues. During the NAMI convention in Washington DC earlier this summer, Dunn visited the offices of area congressmen and provided them with information on upcoming legislation that will affect mental health facilities, clients, families and support systems. In January, he also had the opportunity to testify before US Congressman Bill Shuster and US Assistant Secretary on Aging, Josefina Carbonell, when they visited Home Nursing Agency due to its unique network of diverse in-home and community-based behavioral health services.
   
   "By sharing my personal journey during these speaking opportunities, I believe it helps to represent the quality of mental health services available and how intervention and support can go a long way in getting a person's life back. I'm living proof," said Dunn.
