John Dunkerley is Head of Service for Children's Social Care and the Youth Service at Warrington Borough Council and boasts more than 30 years experience of children and families work. John is currently preparing Warrington's move to an Integrated Youth Support Service (IYSS), ensuring that the principles within the Green Paper Care Matters are delivered to Looked After children. John has sought to influence national policy and regional provision in the areas of child and adolescent mental health, social work training and planning for children in care.
This lecture will reflect on the transition from separately managed children's services to an integrated Children's Services Department. He will consider the issues facing local authorities and partner agencies seeking to improve outcomes for young people and their families.
