Paperclay Workshop with Helen Dunkerley
...
Helen will examine the amazing properties of paperclay in this hands on workshop. Paperclay can be used to make large slabs with little or no cracking or warping. Wet pieces can be attached to dry, and it has incredible green strength. This workshop will look at when and how paperclay can be used, both on its own and with other materials. Participants will also learn how to use paperclay as a slip, bone dry and as a plastic material. Helen will also demonstrate various monoprinting techniques using coloured slips to decorate paperclay vessels.
Helen currently teaches ceramics at the Hunter Institute of TAFE and exhibits regularly at the Innercity Clayworkers Gallery, Mura clay Gallery & Back to Back Gallery. Helen studied ceramics at East Sydney Tech and has been exhibiting paperclay vessels with myriad slip surfaces for many years.
