LaJuana Duncan, Principal Broker of ERA Pacific Properties, Hilo, has been involved in Real Estate for over a decade.Her gentle manner and good humor stems from her Mid-West background in Oklahoma and Arizona.Raised on a Native American Reservation, she has a deep understanding and affection for native cutures, especially our host culture of Hawaii.

In 1986, drawn by her love of nature and the ocean, she relocated to Maui, where she resided and successfully sold property for 8 years.One of her dreams was to own a flower business and the Big Island of Hawaii gave her both the opportunity and occasion to start "Hawaii Blooms".In 1994, LaJuana and her new husband, Dave operated the business for 10 years before selling it in the fall of 2005.

In 2004, the owners of ERA Maui Real Estate, our sister company, chose LaJuana as Principal Broker for their newest office in Hilo because of her outstanding leadership qualities and ability to work with people.She single-handedly brought together a group of 30 talented agents who have quickly become a "family" due to her drive for success and charisma.

With LaJuana at the helm, ERA Pacific Properties has experienced incredible growth in this first year.Her professional expertise, warm & approachable demeanor and knowledge of the area are just a few reasons why her presence in the community as Principal Broker, has warranted us the reputation for being the "2005 Herald Tribune's Readers Choice #1 Real Estate Agency in Hilo".

As principal broker of ERA Pacific Properties since January 2005, LaJuana Duncan oversees 26 agents, most of whom are in their first year of practice.Duncan, who obtained her real estate license in Honolulu in 1987, trains and mentors the agents, shepherds transactions through to closing and helps problem-solve.

Daily, she signs contracts.When talking about her agents, Duncan lights up.She loves interacting with and helping people. ,We have a great mix in the office -- people of different ages, with different personalities, different nationalities,, she says. ,And we all get along.Everyone is eager to share.We are like a big family.,

Although she tributes the office environment for the camaraderie, it may have something to do with her calm and quietly congenial nature.Most of the 200 hours a month Duncan spends are with her agents.

The Hilo office taps into a support network from the larger ERA office in Maui, where Duncan first started in real estate back in 1987.When she left in 1994 to start a floral business on Hawai`i Island, she was Listing Agent of the Year.
