    Sandy Dukat Bio
    ...
Sandy Dukat (born and raised in Canton, OH) grew up competing against able-bodied athletes even though she only has one leg. Sandy was born with a limb deficiency in her right leg and at the age of five her leg was amputated above the knee. Always a sports lover, a whole new world opened up for her when she discovered disabled sports in 1995.

'I have a disability, but I have no limits. That's the message I want to share with others,' says Sandy.

At the 2002 Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City, UT, Sandy captured two bronze medals (Super G and Slalom) while competing in four Alpine events. She had an excellent World Cup season in 2003-2004, finishing with 12 podium appearances and fifth in the overall World Cup Points. After many more medals, Sandy ended her ski career in 2007 with a silver and bronze medal at the Aspen World Cup Games. Since retirement, Sandy has summit Mt. Kilimanjaro (Tanzania, Africa) and plans to continue to play hard and looks forward to new challenges.

A powerful public speaker with a passion for promoting individual abilities, Sandy works closely with The Hartford, founding sponsor of U.S. Paralympics®, helping to positively change attitudes and perceptions about disability.
