Dukas joins DRMS.Philip Dukas recently joined the Dairy Records Management Systems ( DRMS ) staff as manager of program development.In this role , Dukas will direct software development for DRMS products that are marketed to dairy producers , consultants , DHIA staff and Extension workers.With more than 18 years of DHIA experience , he spent 14 of those years with National DHIA as director of operations and CEO.As a management consultant for Michigan DHIA since 1998 , Dukas overhauled the field and laboratory operations and staff.His efforts helped produce a 36 % boost in total enrollment , as well as doubling the lab's capacity.

Land O'Lakes purchases Kraft cheese plantLand O'Lakes Inc. plans to purchase the Melrose , Minnesota , cheese plant , owned by Kraft Foods Inc.Separately , Land O'Lakes and Dairy Farmers of America Inc. announced that they have reached agreement for a joint venture - Melrose Dairy Proteins LLC , which will own and operate the Melrose plant.Kraft will purchase a portion of the plant's output.The plant has approximately 150 employees and produces bulk cheese , which is shipped to other plants for further processing and packaging.Annually , the plant purchases more than 1 billion pounds of milk.
